Sexually transmitted diseases range from the incurable, like HIV, to the pesky (think pubic lice). Being knowledgeable about STDs and their symptoms, treatments and effects is important, especially in the black community, where some STDs have reached epidemic proportions. African Americans are disproportionately affected by HIV, gonorrhea, HPV, chlamydia, genital herpes and syphilis -- to name a few. Thankfully, many of these STDs, with the exceptions of HIV and herpes -- are curable, but if they aren't treated early enough, they can lead to any number of complications, including infertility, cancer, blood and joint disease and even death. As National STD Awareness Month comes to an end, Black Voices put together a list of some of the most common STDs. Read, learn and be safe!

Jefferson, I think that you allowed the Holy Spirit to use you and to give the people insight. I totally agree with you. If we let this mind be in use which is also in Christ Jesus we can possess the land and walk in divinity and live a long and healthy life. God bless you!!Amen!

Amen.... We, as a nation must remove the liberal atheist from our society, t.v. programming, school agenda, court system, and community period. We've voted these evil people in high positions, they must be removed, by force if necessary and replaced with God fearing Americans. They call them selves "open minded" on that their evil agenda is "open ended" and anti Christian.

Whatever it it that a man is sowing he is also reaping - Galatians 6:7 & 8. As long as people continue to ignore the bible's counsel about abstaining from from blood and from fornication (sex without the benefit of marrage) S.T.D's will only continue to get worse. Acts 15:29 is still true almost 2000 years later. As the bible says the wages sin pays is death - Romans 6:23. No one (not even me) can escape divine law. So this is what I suggest (from the scriptures of course), Everyone should get married. And when I say married I mean a man and a woman, as it was God who performed the first marrage in the garden of Eden and he made marrage between a man and a woman. Then, you should never cheat on your spouse. Then if you are single don't have sex until you're married - Colossians 3:5 & 6. And stay away from blood transfusions. Good health to you. Problem solved.

The bible also says let you who are without sin cast the first stone...also something in there that says judge not lest you be judged...you bible beaters have to remember we ALL have sinned and come short...use this time to pray for those instead of ridiculing them...you are ignorant if you think this is a gay/homosexual disease and you need to pray for understanding instead of interpreting the bible in a way that suits hypocrites like yourself!

Judge not lest ye be judged. In an ideal church what you suggest is the best way. But in reality nothing can seperate you from the love of God not even sin. Until you get delivered from fornication protect yourself and use a comdom. For my people are destroyed from lack of knowledge. In all thy getting get understanding

If we tell people to 'save it for marriage', then let gays and lesbians marry each other. How can we say to follow the 'Garden of Eden Model', and conveniently ignore the 'no clothes' stipulation?
The black community needs to stop with this delusion that if we put enough pressure on somebody, then they will magically never have attraction to people of the same gender. Its ludicrous. Hasn't worked for thousands of years, won't work now.
Save it for marriage. Straight or Gay. (which means we need legal marriage for the gays too).
Otherwise, you are telling them 'save it until you die alone as a virgin, or until you force yourself into a sham relationship with an unsuspecting heterosexual of the opposite gender.'
