The College Survival Guide
A Fridge
Regardless of whether you have a wonderful sized meal plan, your fridge may come in handy with leftovers or when you feel like stocking it with bottled drinks.
Computer
The convenience of a computer is essential when sending your kids off to college. Forget the hike to the computer lab across campus students need a computer in the comfort of their room. A printer comes in handy as well. Depending on whether your child plans to carry his laptop around campus, you might opt for a desk top since they're lighter on the pockets.
Snacks
You will surely survive with off of a meal plan but it doesn't hurt to stock up on snacks when you don't feel like leaving your dorm room. Bottled water, pop corn, cereal and Ramen noodles are all low budget snacks to stock up on. Just be weary of the freshman 15.
Things from home
Some college students suffer from homesickness the first year. It's best to surround yourself with things like photos of the family, pillows or even stuffed animals. Anything that reminds your child of home.
MP3 Player
With all the stress that comes from school and exams, sometimes it's nice to block out the chaos in your life and even your roommate with music. It's nearly impossible to find students walking to class who aren't jamming to tunes.
Budget
Students who enter college often come in at the ripening age of 18. A great time for credit cards. Parents beware, your child may end up ruining their credit at a young age
Alarm Clock
When you're in college you don't have the luxury of getting awaken by your parents. It's now your responsibility to get to class on time so alarm clocks are a must. But keep your roommate in mind. You shouldn't wake him up ever morning with a blow horn alarm.
Cleaning supplies
Now you don't necessarily need to bring in the rubber gloves, mop and gas mask but it doesn't hurt to bring along Clorox all purpose wipes for spills or dust. Vacuums and brooms come in handy too depending if you have a carpeted dorm.
Bedding
What most parents aren't aware of is that most college beds are twin sized but extra long and require special sheets. When shopping keep your eye open for sheets that clearly state 'extra long' or else your child may come up short.
Shower shoes
You really don't know what some people do in the shower these days. College showers are known to be creeping with germs so spare yourself the fungus and purchase flip flops for the shower. You'll thank us later!

I lost 25 pds within 2-2.5 months. I would have lost more but the company went bankrupt.
I felt this program was great because of the
accountability. We had to speak w/ counselors
at each visit three times a week.

The best way I found to lose weight is to eat the right things and exercise drink water not soft drink at all, the fizzy drinks extend your stomach and too much sugar and bad carbs add belly fat. Find an exercise that is fun and mix it up so you do not get bored. People just love to temp you with the wrong foods esp when they know you are trying to lose weight and then get angry when you say you do not want it. Many times I have taken it and later threw it in the trash. also going to bed early helps to lose weight providing you stop eating early too, you burn calories when you sleep.

I've always had a problem maintaining a healthy weight. I tried all the pills and diet drinks but none of that ever worked for me. I was resigned to being chunky and not in the best health. Then I saw something on a TV show that I though might be able to work for me. it was a line of delicious, low calorie muffins, brownies, and muffin tops, by Vitalicious http://cli.gs/Vitalicious Being able to enjoy what I was eating, while cutting down on calories, has been working for me. I'm actually enjoying this process of losing weight. It got me to a place where I now walk for exercise, which I didn't do before, because I'm liking myself and caring more, because now I see the new slimmer and healthier me. This change in my diet is real, not some scam to get me to order a "free sample" of diet pill that won't work. http://cli.gs/Vitalicious

Dear Rosa;
My doctor advised me on how to lose weight. Weightwatchers. also do not eat corn or food made from corn. do not it red meat because it is corn fed. drink soy milk. do not drink regular milk. do not eat cheese. 1 slice of american cheese has 10 cups of milk in it according to the doctor. stay away from big plump chicken breast, they are corn fed--eat thinner chicken breast.
Best of luck!

Weight Watchers is the best program ever. Beleive me, I have tried prescription pills, OTC pills, energy drinks, starvation, etc. Nothing kept the weight off. I finally gave in and went to a weight watcher's meeting. I have lost 33 pounds and have kept it off for over 2 years. I recently started ZUMBA (latin Fusion) classes also and I am HOOKED.
Good luck!!!

The first, second & third rules for dieting: Moderation, moderation, moderation. Just watch what you eat. Having been a fat @#$, I know that eating just about anything in moderation is okay. It comes down to knowing when to stop. It is much easier to eat just a small portion of something than to try and lose the weight from overindulging. I know what it's like to try and lose weight. I lost 47 pounds in 6 weeks using the Rapidthin diet at www.rapidthin.com. Good luck to all. Use what works for you.
