So why is she now making headlines for losing too much weight?
Weight loss in Hollywood is a tricky thing. When you're bigger than a size 8, you're considered fat. When you succumb to media pressure (or that big movie role) and shed some pounds, you're praised -- that is, until you go overboard, and tabloids start wondering if you have a "problem."
Perhaps the "problem" is the juvenile peer pressure put forth by the media.
Per Hollywood's pin-thin weight ideals, one could conclude that Jennifer Hudson actually has a long way to go. However, when it comes to reality, she's looking pretty great; we have yet to see a protruding ribcage or sunken cheekbones a la Nicole Richie circa 2006, for example.
After all, it's bootylicious Beyonce whom all the men are lusting after, and it was the bodacious Christina Hendricks who was named Esquire's Hottest Woman of the Year in 2010 (based on reader-submitted votes), not Lindsay Lohan. So should Jennifer publicly be considered less appealing now that she's lost some of those curves?
One might argue that it's just a black thing. We love our curvy chicks, and when they get too thin, we joke about how they "need a sandwich." When Star Jones turned to gastric bypass for her massive weight loss, eventually the attention turned to how droopy and hungry she began to appear. Even "skinny is evil" actress Mo'Nique has started to lose some weight, citing health reasons, but insists she'll never be truly thin, because she loves the way she is. Then again, so did Jennifer Hudson. We could say that we just like a little meat on our bones, but even the aforementioned Lindsay got flack from mainstream media for her speed-induced weight loss - so who's really to blame?
Frankly, Jennifer Hudson looks fantastic. And according to her, she feels great. So why all of the hatred? Simple: Because you can't please everyone.
They say that "one man's trash is another man's treasure," right? Well, imagine being both trash and treasure to millions of eyes. In other words, while some might say that Jennifer's finally reached a point of perfection, others are stomping their feet and wondering why she bothered to hit the gym in the first place. So who wins in this ongoing battle of opinions?
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so it's a good thing she's already happily married. So in honor of Women's History Month, please: Give this woman a break!
What do you think of Jennifer's new body? Tell us!

I don't believe for one minute all her weight loss is due to "Weight Watchers". She shows all the tall-tell signs of gastric bypass and/or lipo. Look at the parenthesis (deep ravines) around her mouth, the flabby skin & stretchmarks on the arms-which is a sign you lost too much weight too fast. Her head is huge, with natural weight loss, your body is in proportion. On her commercials she looks good because she was still thick & curvy, but slimmed down. Now,she looks old & hard in the face. She has no muscle tone, if she was really working out she'd be more toned. She got the fat sucked out of her.
Well I guess she got what she wanted, to be accepted by Hollywood. You go guuurl-lol

I have to agree with you, but I still think that she looks a lot better than she did when she was carrying all that "FAT"! Please, don't confuse "FAT" with being "CURVY"...that's FAT too! There are just way too many "FAT" , OVERWEIGHT BW., 80.3% of all BW in the US today are either overweight, or obese! what on earth is wrong with these women? Go figure. I just don't understand why they just don't invest the time to take better care of themselves! It's just pathetic! Perhaps, it simply a BW "low self esteem" issue!

Wow Greg you have some real issues with Black women. It seems you troll around any and every article about Black women just to have negative comment. I really hope you don't have any Black women in your family to subject them to your negativity. Someone must have really hurt you because you are just so very very negative about Black women. You couldn't even give Jennifer Hudson a compliment without turning it into something negative.

Dear Greg:
You speak of others' self esteem, but you spend so much of your time making rude comments on BV, which we would have to assume is because you need the attention due to your own low self-esteem. Do us all a favor and disappear.
Sincerely,
Americans Everywhere

Oh goodness, this is exactly what I thought when I saw Jen at the Oscars...you said it better than I could though:) Most people are not meant to be a size 0 and those who try look ridiculous and sickly. Jen's starting to get that sickly look and her face is indeed looking hard. Enough Jen, you look better with curves, as most women do.

the only people complaining about JHUD's weight loss are huge women (both white and black) who failed at weight watchers and every other diet program because they can't stop stuffing their mouths OR hating ass black men who just can't miss an opportunity to bash on a woman to detract from their own messed up lives
JHUD is a normal weight now for someone her height and looked gorgeous in that oscar dress

Stop hating you sound like someone who is not real happy in your own weight. Anytime one can slim down without hurting themselves should be encouraged and not ridiculed.

jennifer has lost too much weight. i understand that you have to achieve success in hollywood but c'mon, if you love yourself everything will fall into place. right now she has a big head with a skinny body. i don't want that coz i want to be normal by losing the weight naturally not by gimmicks or surgery. hey she did it for her son but i hope that she did it for herself too!
