When you're on your "Kanye workout plan," do you find a side glance from men distracting or does it inspire you to put more pep in your step?
One blogger mentioned that a handsome man actually takes her mind off breaking a sweat.
"I will shamelessly admit I pass most of my time people-watching at the gym. I've actually changed my workout schedule in order to go to the gym when the hottest guys show up (I've found it was 6-8 p.m., which may vary depending on your particular gym). If I spend the time imagining what the hot dude next to me on the treadmill does for a living, or starring at the endless full-sleeve tattoos, it takes my mind off of actually exerting effort," said market researcher and blogger Erica Dermer.
But many women are focused on their routines and a guy constantly ogling their bodies isn't motivation to get in the last few reps. It may be the motivation to join another gym.
Weigh in, does a little eye candy and attention break up the monotony of your routine?

Go to an all women's gym. They have those now in 2011. Also most people are not staring but competing. Not every woman looking at you is gay. It's the norm in a gym to compare and compete.

I have a goal, that is to firm up and lose 20lbs.
Although I look good in my clothing, I still need to get into better shape. So I turned off the TV and stepped up my routine. I go to the gym almost every day.
One man has been following me around the gym for 2 months and never says anything. I decided to disarm him so I spoke after I got over a very unsettled feeling. He spoke but has said nothing more. He is white, in fairly good shape but not my type.
Then I went into the sauna room last week and a Cuban man in his mid forties came onto me. He was on the phone speaking in spanish when I entered.
I stayed a few minutes, got up to leave, he hung up the phone and asked if I was going into the pool. I said no I'm going into the steam room.
He said "I'm going too"
He kept up the conversation, asking me what I like to do, if I was married, etc.
Guess what folks- I am an African American in my 60's. This attention is flattering but somewhat distracting. I guess if u want to meet men, no matter what ethnic group they can be found staring at you in the gym. Who ever said that we are not attractive must be blind! LOL

I tend to just ignore men looking at me while i work out. I figure if they wanted to say something they will. Now I will greet a brotha but im just there to get in shape :} I have been hit on by a married man, whose wife and children come to the same gym!!! that was a mess, i couldnt believe he had the guts. Another guy asked for my number and quickly told on himself..he was dating a woman already :}

Take it from me. When you go to the gym and your being stared at and or your watching the next person, It’s a plus. When people are watching you its because they are admiring your dedication, sizing you up on your looks & motivating themselves to lift heavier or run harder. My suggestion is this. Put on a set of head phones and create yourself a musical play list just for working out!!! ( Not music that you party to when your out with the fellas or ladies That would make you just sing along and think about the great time you had the other weekend (UNFOCUSED) Get at something with an upbeat tempo…..House, Techno, Dance ect…. When you do this you will be completely focused in the gym. I am a 320lbs body builder. I love R&B in its entirety. However when I work out I listen to Techno. LOL don’t laugh because it works. I’m tuned out to the entire gym like im all alone. I might glance over and see someone struggling to lift or lifting something with ease and that motivates me even more. If you need tips on sculpting your body feel free to email me. asmoothblkman29@aol.com.

There is a quote that goes something like "Be careful how you interpret the world, for it is like that." If you interpret people as staring at you negatively or eyeing you as a potential date, then that's the way you'll see them. If you interpret people as those who are casually interested in their surroundings, or people who are looking to others for workout tips, then that's the way you'll see them. I love to workout at my gym, I do socialize, and I do notice how other people workout. I'm not trying to get a date, and I'm not critical of the appearance of others. I am very much motivated by others in my classes, etc. And, if for some reason I do catch someone who seems to be sizing me up appreciatively, then that's fine. "Better to meet people in brightly lit gyms than darkly lit bars," I always say.

From a male view I go the gym only to work out any ogling I have to do out side for I can barely see without my glasses. I hate wearing them while I exercise they are only in the way and far to exspensive. It good to be blind more focus less waste.

I don't mind a little glance but when a guy is looking at me to the point where he can see my damn under ware and how many beads of sweat are on my head, then it's annoying. I work out in the morning because the guys that come after work (the hot body guys as one woman referred) are a bit too much, and I start to feel like I'm in the club and not the gym. There are a few guys that work out in the morning that are a bit much with the complements ("yea girl, I like women with curves and that got some stuff in the back" all while looking at my ass) that I just stay away from, but there aren't that many "undress you with my eyes" lookers and that's better for me.

I find it annoying when men try to get your attention while working out. I'm sweating and focused and it's just a bad time atleast for me. LOL!
